Dear UEFA
As Besiktas JK (Istanbul Turkey) supporters, we feel to express our deepest concerns about the outcome for the last 9 weeks of the Turkish Super League title race. The reason why we want UEFA´s attention is that during the last period of 2015 / 2016 season, we have been treated very unfairly by the referees.
At the moment, Besiktas JK is leading The Turkish Super League with 60 points, 1 point ahead of our rivals Fenerbahce SK (59 points). Thus our 1 point advantage to our rival we feel that the referee decisions do have a big effect on the Turkish Super League Championhip title, which grants direct access to UEFA Champions’ League group stages.
We will just give you 2 match examples and some facts of the previous weeks.
If you take a look at the match between Fenerbahce SK (2) – (0) Besiktas JK, you will see that 2 Fenerbahce players should have been sent off very early in the game. Two of your old Turkish Referees Erman Toroglu and Ahmet Cakar who both have served UEFA and FIFA; said in the newspapers and on TV that Fenerbahce should not have completed the match with 11 players and told furthermore that “Turkish referees lost their objective judgment abilities in Turkey for some reasons, which is doubtful and suspicious”.
If you take a look at the match between Trabzonspor SK (0) – (2) Besiktas JK you will see fatal decisions that could have cost Besiktas JK an important 3 points, in a head to head race with Fenerbahce SK. After the match between Trabzonspor and Besiktas, the newspaper columns wrote about these two referees mentioned above and said altogether “ Besiktas wins despite the referee” and “ Besiktas wins against the referee and Trabzonspor”.
Besiktas JK is one of the teams who has the lowest foul committed to opposing teams in Europe and is among one of the most goal scoring teams in Europe according to statistics regarding TSL. When opponents start to stop you with tactical fouls without any cards given, it is easy to lose any match.
Therefore we urge UEFA to take necessary actions and watch the games, the referees, their decisions during the title race between Besiktas JK and Fenerbahce SK. We will also be very happy if you could draw TFF and the MHK´s attention to the great number of mistakes committed by the referees as well as to the appointment of the referees for the sake of fair play. Dear UEFA we know that UEFA stands for fair play in every branch that your name is involved. Besiktas JK´s reputation in Turkey is “Honorable runner up“ (“Serefli ikincilik” in Turkish), which complies with UEFA´s general ethics.
A Besiktas supporter does only accept fair play and nothing else than fair play. We do not want to be Turkish Champion if we don’t deserve it. But we don’t accept deliberate referee mistakes, which can ruin our team’s whole season efforts. We hope that UEFA would contact the Turkish Football Association (TFF) and Central Referee Appointment Committee (MHK) and tell them that you’ll observe the outcome of the last period of the Turkish Super League. This would be to the benefit of all the parties, including our rivals.
We do hope to give football Europe and UEFA one of the best atmospheres in our newly built stadium “VODAFONE ARENA” with the CHL anthem. And we could achieve this only if the Turkish Super League outcome would be a fair one.
Football is Fair Play, Hope and Passion.
Best Regards
Very concerned Besiktas JK Fans
